Time to Ante up!

Its been seven days since our dear Mr. Bauer's departure. Not like from this world, he only went to Chicago. Now before I get to the latest most dramatic news I would like to talk a little about what we have already done.

First and foremost we have tried to be supportive in our words and actions. Anything done for the first time may be very difficult. All journeys, trips and days of our lives have a beginning. This often deters people from getting out of bed in the morning. Come on, you know it's true each of us has at one time or another thought "Today would be better if I just didn't get up!" With this in mind I believe that our words of encouragement may have been just that for our friend. I do thank each and every person who added in with there kind words.

Secondly I know many of us have pitched in to purchase personally designed clothing which when bought a small portion goes direction to Ian Bauer. Now the part I like the most about this is that its not so much about the money, but about the action behind the purchase. When you buy a shirt it shows that you care. Check it out if you wish. Now among other things, I have taken it upon myself to add in my own personal way. Now I know that to many this seems more than a tad past social convention. For the past week I have wore each and every day the shirt which I bought at cafepress. I will try to ease your reaction by letting you know I did take it off for about two hours when it was in both the washer and dryer.

On much lighter notes, paul burek and I have put together a song in honor of our friend Ian. He will get to see it on sunday after his facebook fasting is over.

Personally I think the time to anti up has been from from over due. Its time for each of us to find ways to show others that we actually do care. Ian, thank you for being so easy to encourage. We each have a place in this crazy world. I'm glad mine has included you.

Eleven Years Later

It's been eleven years since I've sat in the Dean's office at my old high school. But today there I was sitting in front of the new Dean. I graduated in 1998. But during my final year I made a promise to our old Dean. I promised her I would come back in five to ten years and let them know what I was doing.
You know it was still really strange to be in that office, immediately I felt like a twelve year old being punished for a years worth of tardiness. When I entered the school I had to buzz in to speak with the secretary through some kind of bullet proof glass, not something we had in my day. I asked to see the Dean who was in a meeting. I waited on a few minuets by talking to one of my old teachers. It was then that a most beautiful woman came in and I was introduced to the our new Dean. I believe that this was a part of why it was difficult for me. but only a portion. I mean walking into anyone's office for the first time basically unannounced to tell them your past 11 year story would be kinda weird. But this I hadn't planned on.
So, how did it go, well I guess. I only apologized a few times for how strange this must be for her. Even she said in a most natural way it would be great if someone I knew was there for me to share all this with. And really the whole meeting went like this. I could tell she belonged there. I mean she was so relaxed in her office her environment, and I was just out of place. I felt the more and more we spoke the more this was obvious. Then at the last moments of our conversation I relised that this is not what I came her for, it wasent as I had dreamed it would be. It was turnning out to just be a semi awkward moment. I was supposed to be encouraging. I was supposed to tell her my rags to riches story and leave her knowing any punk could be changed for the better if they just had a chance. Well I don't want to let you down, I mean few people will probably ever read this. probably only thouse close to me, and of them still few. But I did leave her with that. I did tell her about Christ, and my new life in Him, I told her about Moldova and my work and dreams there. Its just that I dident ever see it panning out like this.

Bad Peanuts?

I heard it on the news the other day. Bad peanuts are traveling around the US. I don't know any details. I only know they found there way to me.

I've been haveing car problems for quiet some time now. And yesterday I found out why. It appears someone put peanuts in my engine and now I have peanut butter for oil!

I"m not sure who, or how but when I pulled out the dip stick, there it was in all its glory. Brown peanut colored oil!

On a side note, Ultra is growing very nicely. I have a new distributor to work with. This is great! I didn't even tell them about the business. That was probably my favorite part. Well its my second favorite part. The best part is that it's my cousin who I haven't seen in over 20 years. I think that is really cool.

Today I received these in the mail, 25 brochures, 10 magnet calenders and 100 post cards. The brochures and magnets are for handing out. The post cards I will be sending to people. If you want one, please just let me know. I'm offering a $50 discount with these post cards for signing up with ultra international. While I"m hoping for a good response from these I obviously don't have the money I would need if everyone wanted a discount. Well, lets see how it goes, I mean to honor my offer to the people I send these to and will by all means make it happen.

What is it all about?

For me Ultra International was born for one reason. To help the children of Larga's camp for children in Moldova. Last summer we spent six weeks in Moldova working with third world people, in third world towns, with third world children. The main problem with that last sentence is not grammar, its this. There is no such thing as a third world child. Each child is a chance for a better tomarrow and all children deserve to see a better tomarrow.

Ultra International's invoulvement takes part in the financial funding for this camp, its vollnteer staff, and their children. I joined UI 3 months ago and have seen wonderful results. At this point I am making more than I've invested and look forward to seeing checks as large as $46,000 in the mail. But this will take perhaps a few years with out your support.
